Journals & Articles: Exhibitions

This exhibition was held at the library from April to November 2024 and consisted of a series of works that explore the history of the Department of Finance with a focus on the period of the late 1980s to the 1990s. The exhibition was inspired by a series of works that were donated to the library in the summer of 2023 from a Senior Director in the Tax Policy Branch who was retiring from a long career at the department. These items, which include a manuel illustrated by renowned cartoonist Ben Wicks, a t-shirt that was gifted to Finance employees in 1998 when Finance balanced the Budget, and a cookbook produced by Finance Canada and the Treasury Board, are paired with existing items from the Library's Reserve Collection.

This exhibition represents a partnership between the Library and the department's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion team. Presented in the library from November 2024 until January 2025, this exhibition highlights EDI resources in the library collection that were purchased in the summer of 2024. The exhibition highlights the importance of EDI through the exploration themes that include Amplifying Black Voices, Indigenous Perspectives and Reconciliation, Disability and Neurodiversity, and 2SLGBTIQ+ Journeys and Allyship.

This online exhibition features books that were included in the library’s “12 Books of Winter” event, a book hunt held at the library in early February. The online version of the event highlights the books that were included in the event and includes summaries of the books and links to their catalogue records. The books are new additions to the library collection, and address topics that include housing policy, artificial intelligence, leadership and more.
