Day 1: Our Crumbling Foundation: How We Solve Canada's Housing Crisis

This book was published in 2024 to wide acclaim and was a finalist for the Balsillie Prize for Public Policy. The book is a National Bestseller and was named a Best Book of 2024 by the Globe and Mail and The Hill Times. Written by CBC Vancouver journalist Gregor Craigie, Our Crumbling Foundation situates Canada's housing crisis within a larger global context. Craigie looks to other international jurisdictions and how cities such as Tokyo, Paris, Berlin, and Helsinki have responded to their own housing crises by developing policies and programs to house their citizens more effectively. A common theme that runs through Craigie's analysis is that housing is first and foremost a social issue and that government must work to make housing more affordable and accessible, a goal that requires coordination from all levels of government.
