Cybersecurity in a connected world

This is a recording of an event organized by The Globe and Mail that brought together leading experts in the field of cybersecurity who discussed the security and privacy risks facing Canada in the age of Industry 4.0 and Energy 4.0. Discussions among the experts covered cybersecurity policies and outlined strategies that businesses, governments, and citizens can take to protect themselves against cybersecurity attacks. The panel included John Howie, national security officer with Microsoft Canada; Colin Singh Dhillon, CTO with the Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association; and Gwen Beauchemin, CEO and security consultant with Tillet Consulting. 

 

How will Canada speed the green energy transition?

This event focused on Canada's energy sector and brought together a panel of experts who emphasized the need for Canada to mitigate the impacts of climate change by prioritizing the development of green energy initiatives. Panelists discussed the current and historical Canadian energy landscape and highlighted trends relating to the adoption of cleaner technologies. The event was moderated by The Globe and Mail's content editor, Sierra Bein and included the following panelists: John Z. Bentley, partner, enterprise strategy, energy and utilities with IBM Consulting; Erin Madro, principal with Evok Innovations; Kate Chisholm, senior vice president and chief strategy and sustainability officer with Capital Power; and Chris Henderson, executive director of Indigenous Clean Energy.

How would a stronger health care system support the economy?

In this panel, experts discuss the relationship between health care and the economy. Panelists discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the health care system and offer suggestions about what a new health care system could look like. The panel was moderated by Carly Weeks, The Globe and Mail's health reporter, and brought together experts in the health care field. Panelists included Dr. Danyaal Raaza, former chair of Canadian Doctors for Medicare and family physician with St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto; Dr. Katherine Smart, president of the Canadian Medical Association; Dr. Dante Morra, chief of staff and president of THP Solutions with Trilium Health Partners; Cheryl Prescod, executive director of Black Creek Community Health Centre; and Craig Conoley, caregiver and advocate.

What do employees need to thrive in the changed economy?

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in unprecedented changes in the nature of work. These changes have touched all industries and contributed to employee stress, burnout, and anxiety. This event brought together a panel of professionals from various industries. Panelists included Louise Taylor Green, management consultant, leadership expert, and coach; Dr. Jennifer Dimoff, assistant professor of organizational behaviour and human resource management with the Telfer School of Business; Peter Pontone, vice president of human resources with Ricoh Canada, Inc.; Janeen Speer, chief people officer with Benevity; and Nabeela Ixtabalan, chief operations officer with Walmart Canada.
